This blog is a record of my journey to becoming a mum for the very first time and of all the trials and tribulations I've experienced on the road to achieving that dream.

My First Meme - 17 weeks
How Far Along: 17 weeks and 2 days
Size of the Baby: I'm not sure at this stage but the books say around 13cm
Picture: I've just updated my 'Story of Comet' page with my latest bump pics :-)
Maternity Clothes: I'm just loving the wardrobe of maternity clothes given to me by a friend who was going to give them to charity but gave them to me instead, when she found out I was pregnant! 6 pairs of jeans, 7 maternity tops (summer and winter), 4 dresses, 3 work skirts, 2 pairs of work trousers, 3 pairs of casual pants and shorts... and they all fit me perfectly. How lucky am I!?
Stretch marks: Yes - I've just noticed some purple spidery ones on the underside of my breasts despite 2 applications a day of bio oil. Oh well - after my initial disappointment my outlook now is that I'm proud of them - they represent everything we've strived so hard for to get here - they are the mark of this magical time in our lives and if that means I'll never forget how much I'm loving being pregnant right now, then so be it! :-)
Weight: I've gained 4.5 kgs from a starting weight of 60.3. So all on track which is fab. Feels like it's all in my breasts and tummy at this stage - ha ha!
Sleep: I've been sleeping very well and am now only getting up twice a night to pee. A little bit of insomnia every now and then but nothing too bad. The nasal congestion and headaches of weeks 14 and 15 have almost gone now
Best Moment of the Week: At least 5 different people commenting this week on how much I've 'popped' out! I'm just loving the bump and the changes my body is undergoing right now.
Movement: Nothing yet but it'll happen when it happens - not too worried or concerned but I am looking forward to the first little flutter, I must say!
Symptoms: The ridiculous tiredness of the first 14 weeks has moderated now and I've also only thrown up 4 times in two weeks (which is wonderful compared to the 9 weeks that I threw up every day!). The chest acne of week 10 is also gone, I'm pleased to say - yay!
Food Cravings: I'm craving less pasta, pizza and cheese than I was and feel like I can go back to my previous diet of lean meats, steamed veg, salads and Asian soups again which is wonderful.
Gender: Hanging in for 7 August for the BIG REVEAL at our 20 week scan!
What do I miss: Nothing! What I DON'T miss is the awful heartache of getting my period every month - month after endless month and fruitlessly trying and trying to conceive to no avail. I don't miss baby making sex - it's been so wonderful to just have sex because we want to - so refreshing!!
What I am looking forward to: Our 20 week scan and finding out if Comet is a boy or girl! Starting to decorate the nursery at around 25 weeks and beginning our search for the perfect second hand pram!
Nursery: I've designed the entire nursery and colour scheme already but we won't start work on it until I'm at 25 weeks.. We have been lucky enough to receive a lovely colourful porta-cot/playpen from friends, a mosquito net to cover the cot (also free from friends) and yesterday, we picked up a brilliant feeding chair for free on the side of the road which someone was throwing out - it's in mint condition and is just perfect. Our friends are going to sell us their wooden cot for really cheap and I'm going to paint it white. The rest of our nursery bits and bobs will likely be bought from Ikea...
Emotions: The mood swings of weeks 6 - 14 have moderated and I've been feeling on top of the world!
Stupid things I have done: I've had a few minor 'pregnancy brain' moments but nothing that stands out really. Overall, I do feel like I was operating on auto pilot during weeks 6 - 14 and I'm just now starting to come out of the 'fog'... it's FABULOUS!!!
Hope you are all having a lovely weekend!
